Debbie Smith

Debbie Smith started her long career as a church musician by singing in the preschool choir in her home church in Leland, Mississippi (we won’t go into how long ago that was!). She graduated from Mississippi College with a Bachelor’s degree in organ and completed her Masters in organ at University of Memphis. She served as organist and/or children’s choir director at several churches in Mississippi and the Memphis area before coming to Grace-St. Luke’s in the fall of 2004 as Music Associate. She is also a piano instructor at Rhodes College and has even carved out time to pursue a Phd. in musicology at U of M.
Debbie loves to spend time with the two most favorite people in her life, her son Andrew who attends Birmingham Southern College and daughter Caitlin who is in high school at St. Mary’s Episcopal School. There’s not much time left in her day for hobbies, but there is always time for a good book before bedtime!
