The Rev. Karen Barfield

Karen Barfield, ordained four years, comes to Grace-St. Luke’s to serve part-time in the areas of pastoral care and young adults/families. She holds an M.Div from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University as well as an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Memphis.
Karen served as co-found and co-director of Friends of Prison Families, an interfaith ministry responding to the needs of people in prison and their families in the Atlanta, GA area. She has served in ministry with homeless persons and persons addicted to alcohol and drugs. In her ordained life, she has served as Interim Rector and Canon for Community Ministries.
Karen’s husband, Ray Barfield, is a bone marrow transplant physician at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They have two children, Micah, age 12, and Alexandra, age 8. As a family the Barfields love going for walks, cooking, playing games and playing a variety of musical instruments.
